Geelong (Cats) delivered a ruthless performance at the MCG, dismantling Essendon (Dons) by a staggering 95 points, 16.11 (107) to 2.2 (14). From the opening bounce, the Cats asserted control, dominating in contested ball, clearances, and inside 50s to notch one of the most complete wins of their season.

The Dons were held goalless after the first term, with their only two majors coming early in a match they would quickly lose grip on. Geelong’s defensive structure suffocated Essendon’s ball movement, and any forward entry was quickly repelled by the likes of Tom Stewart and Sam De Koning.

In midfield, Tanner Bruhn and Patrick Dangerfield set the tone, combining for over 55 disposals and controlling stoppages. Up forward, Jeremy Cameron added four goals to his season tally, while Gary Rohan and Gryan Miers provided pace and pressure.

For Essendon, it was a nightmare outing — their lowest score in a decade — and a result that severely dents their percentage in the top-eight race.
