Fremantle (Dockers) narrowly escaped with a six-point win over North Melbourne (Roos), prevailing 10.13 (73) to 10.7 (67) at Optus Stadium. The Dockers looked in control for most of the night but had to withstand a furious final-quarter charge from the Roos to secure their fourth straight win.
Josh Treacy proved the match-winner, taking a contested mark inside 50 and snapping truly to put the Dockers ahead late in the game. The 21-year-old finished with three goals and played a crucial role in keeping Fremantle’s forward line functional under pressure.
Caleb Serong was again immense through the middle, collecting 36 disposals and leading the clearance count, while Luke Jackson played a critical dual role in the ruck and up forward. Despite missing several chances to put the game beyond doubt earlier, the Dockers’ defence held firm in the final minutes.
North Melbourne, led by George Wardlaw and Bailey Scott, showed grit and composure in the second half and nearly pinched the game. The result leaves Fremantle clinging to a top-eight position while the Roos continue to show promising development despite the loss.
