Port Adelaide (Power) delivered a statement win over Melbourne (Demons), securing a 25-point victory, 14.9 (93) to 9.14 (68), in front of a roaring home crowd at Adelaide Oval. Forward Mitch Georgiades was the standout, kicking a career-high seven goals in a dominant performance.
The Demons started strongly and took an early lead, but missed opportunities in the second quarter let the Power back in. By halftime, Port had seized momentum and never looked back, using their midfield strength and forward accuracy to gradually pull away.
Georgiades was simply unstoppable, marking everything that came his way and converting efficiently. Zak Butters and Connor Rozee were dynamic through the middle, with their speed and pressure forcing turnovers and opening up scoring chances.
Melbourne struggled to make their midfield dominance count, particularly with Max Gawn giving them first use at stoppages. Their inaccuracy — especially in the third term — proved costly as Port slammed the door shut with four straight goals.
It’s a significant win for the Power, who continue to solidify their top-four credentials, while the Demons’ inconsistency leaves question marks over their premiership hopes.
